President Bush in Israel -- employing the same old morally and intellectually bankrupt arguments:
"Some seem to believe we should negotiate with terrorists and radicals, as if some ingenious argument will persuade them they have been wrong all along," Bush said at Israel's 60th anniversary celebration in Jerusalem.
"We have heard this foolish delusion before," Bush said in remarks to Israel's parliament, the Knesset.
"As Nazi tanks crossed into Poland in 1939, an American senator declared: 'Lord, if only I could have talked to Hitler, all of this might have been avoided.' We have an obligation to call this what it is -- the false comfort of appeasement, which has been repeatedly discredited by history."
Joe Biden in Washington -- cutting straight to the point for once:
“This is bullshit. This is malarkey. This is outrageous. Outrageous for the president of the United States to go to a foreign country, sit in the Knesset…and make this kind of ridiculous statement,” Biden said angrily in a brief interview just off the Senate floor.
“He’s the guy who’s weakened us. He’s the guy that’s increased the number of terrorists in the world. His policies have produced this vulnerability the United States has. His intelligence community pointed that out not me. The NIE has pointed that out and what are you talking about, is he going to fire Condi Rice? Condi Rice has talked about the need to sit down. So his first two appeasers are Rice and Gates. I hope he comes home and does something.”
There's nothing I could possibly add. Nice job, Sen. Biden.

How the hell can W be criticizing others for appeasement--when *his* secretary of state is on record as putting out feelers to Iran and Syria and North Korea (state sponsors of terrorism); when his administration is approving former terrorists as combat allies against Al Qaeda?
Biden is right, it's bullshit, plain and simple--the cheapest of cheap shots coming from a leader who negotiates with terrorists. This is what conservatism has come to in the United States; the chief conservative accusing his opposition of "appeasement" even as he himself practices it.
What pisses me off is that he went to Israel to say this. Makes it even worse to me.
I love Joe Biden. He doesn't mince words. While it gets him into trouble on occasion, it also shows he is a fighter and will not stand for this fearmonger crap.
